“I’m just not normally a jewelry person, but this necklace is going to redefine who I am.” For a long time, this statement uttered by myself every time I stumbled across a gorgeous piece of jewelry rang true. But, as shown below, if you buy enough pieces to redefine you, you end up with a pretty solid jewelry collection, and I thought I’d show you mine.
Obviously I have your classic dainty silver chain necklace, but I figured that was assumed and was therefore not needed in this post. I wanted to show you guys the pieces I choose when I really want to shift the vibe of an outfit. Statement pieces, if you will. With the exception of 3 manufactured pieces, all of these pieces of jewelry were collected either by me or for me, making them not only beautiful accessories but memories that come with me for the day whenever I wear them.
I’m not a jewelry person, but…
I have an uncontrollable thirst for unique necklace designs. As shown, I’m a sucker for stones pieces that look worn. Two of the five necklaces shown actually are old, but can you guess which ones? Something about a nice stone gives a necklace just that little bit more authenticity (even if it’s a totally manufactured replica of the real thing). It shows that you put thought into pairing the piece with your look. You wouldn’t just throw a turquoise pendant over anything, would you?
I’m not a jewelry person, so…
If I’m going to wear earrings, somebody from 10 miles away better be able to spot them (and like them). These two pairs of earrings are actually the only earrings I own. (I have one pair of fancier stud earrings but those are kept under lock and key by my much more responsible – and therefore less likely to lose them – mother). They’re not that versatile, so they only come out on certain occasions. In fact, I should probably check to see if my ears are even still pierced.
Several other things to be noted:
-Two silver rings – bought on Pier 39 in 2012, and have never looked back. If there are any pieces on here that I swear by, it’s these bad boys. They go with anything and add a little bit of edge.
-Red leather bracelet – brought back from Italy by my parents (thanks mom + dad!!!). Worn all the time, especially if red doesn’t go with my outfit.
