Free People Poncho, Jeans / Asos Coat / Jeffrey Campbell Booties

It’s officially cold here in Montreal which means that this poncho can now go over my fall coats to double the warmth. The coziness that this thing brings is unreal, and its festive colors bring me suuuuch joy in these favorite Fall months of mine. Whenever I wear the poncho, however, the rest of the outfit has to be plain Jane otherwise I look like a maniac. This goes for pretty much any patterned poncho, in my opinion. So when I do break this piece out, I make sure to keep it simple with dark jeans, black boots, and either a black sweater or simple jacket underneath.

I would especially recommend a poncho as we head into the cold season – the amount of wear you’ll get out of it is way more than expected and the extra layer of warmth it brings is priceless!

Dress, Free People / Bag, Vintage Paloma Picasso / Headscarf, Urban Outfitters / Watch, Urban Outfitters

Having only started my job as a Free People stylist last week, I am already surprisingly familiar with the brand and what it stands for. Contrary to popular misconception, Free People in fact caters to a variety of different styles – with such a broad range and with not one but four style muses off of which they base their designs, one would be hard-pressed not to find a single thing they were drawn to in a store. Firmly believing in this newfound versatility of the brand, I thought I might show you guys a couple of different ways to style Free People pieces. The first look, as shown here, is the most typical portrayal of Free People. It’s bohemian, airy, colorful, and oozes the term “free spirit.”

The beauty of Free People is encompassed in the name – they give customers the freedom to dress however they want, and encourage original interpretation of their pieces. Look out for my next post featuring a different take on some FP pieces!
