I like to think that my style is a somewhat balanced combination of sweet and edgy. Although these are contradicting ideas, I try to create a Ying and Yang feel in every outfit I put myself in. If it’s too preppy, I add my trusty Converse or a pair of boots. If it’s too grunge, I throw on my Katz flats, loafers, or a blazer. When I came across these perfect plaid trousers, I simply had to have them. End of story. But I knew it would be a challenge to create a look that was truly me. So I used all my tricks, and I managed to take these pants and incorporate them into an outfit that encompasses all that I love regarding style. This idea of balance within an outfit is very important to me when crafting an outfit. xx

Evergreen

Moto Pants, American Eagle / Blouse, H&M / Jean Jacket, Gap / Shoes, Converse / Hat, H&M

Today’s outfit is probably the epitome of a “me” outfit. I love to mix slightly rebellious pieces with girly touches, but the overall tone of the outfit is much more edgy than not. These moto pants are a new favorite addition to my wardrobe. I needed some color in my wardrobe, and I also needed some new pants. But I was definitely hesitant to buy colored pants, because let’s face it; the last pair of colored pants I wore were my hot pink skinny jeans from 6th Grade. The thing I love about green, however, is that it acts as a sort of denim. It’s neutral for the most part, unless you intend to highlight the color with the rest of what you’re wearing. We’ve been seeing army green a lot lately,  and army green is great, but I’d suggest going  for something evergreen, like my pants! xx

The Beauty of Basic

Sweater, Brandy Melville / T-shirt, Zara / Jeans, H&M

So I think we’ve established that my go-to combo is jeans and a basic t-shirt. But isn’t everybody’s “go-to” some derivation of that? It’s easy to sometimes think that your “go-to” is getting boring. Well I can confidently say that it probably isn’t, but if you’re still worrying (which I do often) here’s a tip. If you’ve run out of ideas on how to put a twist on an outfit, sometimes the freshest version of a basic combo is the basic combo, and nothing else. Today’s style can sometimes be a whirlwind of different patterns, embellishments, and more. Though these aspects are wonderful, it doesn’t hurt to just keep it simple for a day. For my outfit, I paired my comfy H&M Boyfriend Jeans with my new favorite Zara tee, (highly recommend both!) my extra comfy Brandy Melville sweater, and pulled on my trusty converse. Just remember that the most successful outfits are the ones you’re comfortable in!

Pumpkin Picking

Jacket, Bershka / Scarf, American Eagle / T-shirt, Topshop / Jeans, American Apparel / Shoes, Converse

Finally an excuse to wear a scarf! Despite the fact that weather in the Bay Area is still too high for coats and hats, an hour long drive can cure that. The pumpkin patches in Half Moon Bay are simply endearing, and it felt so nice to do something “Autumny.”  On days when I just can’t figure out what to wear this is my go-to outfit. Jeans and a t-shirt is a comfortable combo but it can be done up in such a variety of ways. You can throw on a pair of flats and a cool blazer or a leather jacket and Chucks and it’ll always look good. xx
