Dress, X-Generation / Slip-Ons, Steve Madden / Bag, Marc by Marc Jacobs / Arm Cuff, Nordstrom

The first thing my dad said to me when he saw this dress was, “Megan, they hemmed your dress wrong!” Of course he was kidding, but the hem is something that stands out as a little strange. What I love about an abnormal hem, however, is that it can take a plain black shift dress and turn it into something that really catches the eye. I’ve realized that while our basics are important, the pieces that you’re going to wear on their own need to have some “wow factor” in order to keep the outfit stylish, rather than simple. xx

Throwing in the Towel

Dress, Brandy Melville / Jean Jacket, Gap / Boots, Topshop / Bracelets, J Crew and Pandora

This winter in California has truly been pathetic; humid rain and afternoon heat have been the opposite of desired over here in the Bay. But thankfully I have found a silver lining! With weather such as this it’s hard to find a winter-themed outfit while remaining conscious of the warmth. So many, including myself, have thrown in the towel and pulled out our dresses, skirts, and shorts and embraced the sunshine. However I could never give up my booties no matter the weather. Those are here to stay. xx
