It’s Magic

Guess who just finished school for the summer? Guess who just moved apartments?

The answer is this girl. Which is why I haven’t posted in a month! But I’m back now, rest assured – I’m meeting up with my photographer this afternoon to shoot a couple of looks! But for now, I’ll leave you guys with these photos of my beautiful Free People velvet maxi jacket that I received for Christmas. (To be honest, I really don’t know why I haven’t posted earlier about it) .

A jacket like this is one I’ll have forever. While at first I struggled with the concept of wearing it in public (which I have yet to do as I wait for the perfect occasion), finally mustering up the confidence to do so might be the beginning of me wearing it every single day. As my brother put so well, it has the potential to become my “Penny Lane coat” – a symbol of me. But all this is hypothetical. For now, these pictures of me wearing the coat in my (old) bedroom are the reality. Hopefully, not for long!

Big Sur, Again

Long time, no post! I have to apologize – school has been on my tail for the past couple of weeks and I can’t catch a couple of minutes to work on a post for you guys! With that said, I totally forgot to post these amazing photos from my road trip to Big Sur over spring break.

As you may recall, I went to Big Sur last summer and realized my undying love for the small stretch of coast. So when my friend suggested a road trip for a couple of days, it was naturally the first place I thought of.

We hopped in her Jeep and made the three hour trek (a small price to pay), where I got to show her the famous cliffs and waves for the very first time! It was as magical as ever – I can confidently say that of all the places I’ve been, Big Sur is my favorite.

I experience a different sort of excitement here. The absolute, raw beauty is unlike any other you’ll ever see and it creates a sort of hope for the future. When you’re driving down Highway 1, taking in the sea breeze and sun rays, you just know that you’ll visit a lot of places in your lifetime, but you’ll make it back here again.

Musée Looks

I usually don’t go for indoor shoots, but I needed to show you guys this jacket ASAP and it’s not exactly weatherproof. Regardless, I think the pictures turned out great! Me and my favorite photographer Haley (check out her site here!) ventured to one of my favorite places in Montreal – the Musee des Beaux Arts.

Zara jacket, Free People Scarf + Jeans

Alone time is very important to me – Every once in a while I just need to refocus my thoughts and this quiet museum provides the perfect environment. That said, this time I was not alone at the museum, and it was equally as fun!

With regards to the outfit – I got this jacket at Zara two weeks ago and never looked back. It’s actually turned out to be a great layering piece for colder days – so I’ve been able to wear my favorite blouses out of the house without covering them up with a sweater!

The skinny scarf is another key piece to note – I’ve worn it before and every time I wear it, it feels like it adds something different the each look.

Desire To Move, Outfits with Movement

This is my favorite photoshoot to date.

Favorite stretch of road, favorite dress, favorite time of day… Everything is pretty much ideal. I’ve been really inspired by the idea of flying by the seat of your pants recently, and even though I’m stuck in a library during most of my spare time, it’s nice to look at pictures like these and revisit those wistful notions again. They can inspire even the littlest of things, like a trip to a new coffee shop or area of town – there’s loads of new places to discover here in Montreal and sometimes you just need that little extra push to get out of the house and move.

I feel like my more recent posts have reflected that – a desire to move, shown through outfits with movement. Forget the backdrop, I don’t think you’d see an outfit like this on somebody totally content with being stuck in one place for a while.

It’s pretty convenient that I’ve been getting this cliche wanderlust, though, because I just found out that I’ll be spending a semester abroad in Edinburgh next Winter! It’s a whole year away but I’m confident the time will pass quickly, as it has been lately.

There isn’t much else to say, so I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
