Prep for the New Year

New Years means many different things to many different people. For me, welcoming the New Year means welcoming change. In the lull period between Christmas and New Years Eve, I like to prepare for a fresh start through my closet. In the same way people get excited about their wardrobes in the fall, I love to get excited about my wardrobe again after Christmas.

I think that it is very important that most people should go through their closet a couple times a year. That can be a daunting task for many, but it also can be really fun! Putting on your favorite music and trying on some favorite outfits can easily get me in a good mood.

The thing that I love most about this yearly ritual of mine is getting excited about old pieces again. It’s easy to get caught up in your latest purchases, but it’s cool to look at the things you’ve decided to keep for a long time and re-discover why you kept them in the first place.

After receiving on Christmas or Hanukkah, it also seems right to give back, which is a very important aspect to this process. Getting everything out makes me take notice of the things that I truly don’t need anymore, and it makes me realize that surely there is another use for them! I usually donate clothes I don’t wear anymore, but sometimes I give them to friends’ little sisters or whatnot. They have better use there than hanging in my closet untouched!

I hope everyone has an amazing New Year’s Eve, and of course a fantastic 2014! xx

2013 Gift Guide Part I

Gifts for Mom

It’s that time of year again, and although December’s only just begun, I know I’m already thinking about what to get everyone! I thought I’d make the job a little easier for you all by making a multi-part gift guide for this Holiday season! This first one is for Mom, and I’ve broken it down into three price ranges for you.
In the first line you see two cosmetics gifts. This is because even if you don’t plan on spending much money on the gift, it should still be great quality! Chanel makes extremely high quality nail polishes and makeup, and in my opinion you can never go wrong with it. I’ve also included a Diptyque candle. They’re an absolute favorite of my mom’s and I’m sure yours will love it too.
As for the rest of gifts, there’s a range of things I could have chosen to include in this guide, but these products stand out to me when choosing the perfect gift for mom. An Emma Bridgewater mug is only about $30, so you could get multiple for a nice addition to your mom’s collection. A Burberry Scarf is a no-brainer when it comes to pretty things, and so is the Hermés Perfume. I hope you can find the perfect gift in here for you mother for this Christmas! xx
